Well, since I’m making progress with my leg (still hurts to walk, but I can put significant weight on it now) it’s time to start thinking about fixing up the 9…
Had to order a new tank, new grips, a new headlight cowl piece. I’m also going to have to order new grip heaters, since the spoiled grips are being replaced with non-heated ones. This time I’m going with internal heaters (polly heaters). I have a couple of other small things to do, too: rear rotor replacement and possibly a new front fender.
It’s nice to be able to make plans for when I can ride again.
I can walk. Or at least, I can put weight on my foot.
Went to the doctor today and had wife and daughter come in to the exam room. EV was nervous at first, but eventually warmed up and wanted to sit with me.

I’m still not walking, but I am doing better. All the stitches came out last week and my incisions are mostly healed up. I’ve been able to be more mobile over the last couple weeks–I’ve been out by myself once or twice, and even took Evelyn to donuts one morning, just the two of us. Pic below (more…)
Much like the villager in Monty Python’s Holy Grail, who claimed to have been turned into a newt and who answered the incredulous Sir Bedevere by saying “I got better!”–I am indeed getting better. It’s still an agonizingly slow process, but there’s progress.
This week, all the tape peeled off the left side of my leg, so the 12″ scar is there to be seen in all it’s glory. In addition, the doctor’s instructions to use a pressure bandage on the right-side incision seems to have done the trick, as (after six weeks) that side has at least stopped bleeding and I am hopeful that the stitches will come out tomorrow.
You’ll notice there’s quite a gap between my last post and this one. It’s due to a minor motorcycle accident wherein I broke my leg, got admitted to the hospital, and suffered a rare and serous complication. (more…)
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been working on my “Game Room”–essentially a closed space in the garage that will host my MAME cabinet, pinball machine, and gaming PC, along with a treadmill for exercising. Most of the work is done (pictures coming soon) and I’ve moved all the gear in.
