Cubbies “storm”

EV’s cubbies group has done some of the neatest activities this year. Here she is with the other cubbies doing their after-story activity. The story was Jesus Calms the Storm.

All the cubbies held the edges a blue sheet and the leader put a “boat” into the middle. Then they “floofed” (EV’s term for it) the sheet to create a “storm.” It was really neat and EV loved it.

The Winter of my Discontent

Well, the stormy weather has had one upside–I haven’t felt as bad about not having my bike, since I couldn’t ride it in the rain anyway. However, I am getting antsy to have it back. The shop is still waiting on a part… and looking out my office window I can see that the day had turned out sunny :-( I sure hope they can get it finished this week!

Best Balloon Artist Ever

We went to a preschool open house today with the girls and saw what was by far the best balloon artist I’ve ever seen. He made a princess for our oldest–very cool.

Waiting is the hardest part…

So–the shop has the wheels, the rear hub, and assorted other parts needed to fix my bike. They thought they might have it ready by last Friday, but didn’t make it. I’m hoping they’re working on finishing it this week. I guess with all the rain I should be OK that I don’t have it yet, but my patience is limited :-)

Power out in Palo Alto

The power went out around 7:30 this morning and still hadn’t come back on when I headed for home around 9:30. It’s a little hard to get anything done in a darkened office with no lights, power, or network. So I’m here at home working on files that I have on a USB key–but there’s no VPN, so I’ll have to take them in to the office on the key tomorrow.

Zonked!

FINALLY!

Whoo hoo! (and other exclamations of enthusiasm) This afternoon, nearly a month late, UPS delivered a set of shiny, new, chromed wheels to my front door… or more precisely, my garage door. I checked the chrome (very nice–I’d recommend Chrome Pros if not for the poor communication and ridiculously long turn-around time) and then zipped off to the shop to deliver them and the rear hub so they can put my bike back together. Still no wheels

So, at this point I’m starting to get depressed. It’s been over two months now since I ordered the replacement wheel I need to get my bike back on the road–and they’re still not here. Riding too and from work has been an excellent stress reliever, and I miss it!
