FINALLY!
February 12th, 2010 | by Dan |Whoo hoo! (and other exclamations of enthusiasm) This afternoon, nearly a month late, UPS delivered a set of shiny, new, chromed wheels to my front door… or more precisely, my garage door. I checked the chrome (very nice–I’d recommend Chrome Pros if not for the poor communication and ridiculously long turn-around time) and then zipped off to the shop to deliver them and the rear hub so they can put my bike back together. Here’s the kicker, by the way. It turns out that when the other shop originally installed the chrome wheels, they screwed up the threads on the rear and used an insert to fix it. An insert–on a rear MOTORCYCLE WHEEL!!! (Yes, I was yelling) So apparently not only was this a mistake they made, but they must have known that they made it. After all, you don’t put an insert into a hole that has unstripped threads.
